Why Body Shops and Recyclers Choose Core Auto Logic

After deployment, airbag control modules store crash data that must be cleared by the manufacturer or by EEPROM-level repair. We clear deployment counters and crash codes on supported platforms - control modules only. We do not service inflators, sensors, seat belts, or any deployable hardware.

EEPROM Crash Data Clear
On supported control modules, we read and rewrite the EEPROM to clear deployment counters and crash flags. The module returns to a pre-deployment state ready for re-installation.

Module-Only Service
We work on airbag control modules at the bench level only. Inflators, sensors, seat belts and any deployable component is not part of our scope - replace those per OEM procedure.

What to have ready

Start with the information you have. We confirm the correct service and any additional requirements before work begins.

  • Your vehicle and symptomsSend the VIN or year, make, and model, what is happening, and any fault codes or previous repair attempts.
  • Your module detailsInclude a label photo or part number if available. Tell us whether you have the original module, a replacement, or both.
  • Onsite or mail-inFor onsite work, include your DFW service location. For mail-in work, wait for acceptance, the final quote, and shipping instructions before sending anything. Some work also requires setup on the vehicle.

A quote request does not confirm an appointment. We will confirm scope, price, and availability with you.

What happens next

From your request to completed work and documentation.

  1. Submit VIN, Part Number, DTC, and Failure HistorySend the VIN, RCM part number, stored DTCs, and failure history: collision deployment, warning light, used module install, or specific crash-data concern. We confirm scope and quote requirements before work begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Typical SRS reset service is $100 for an eligible module. Customer-paid inbound shipping is separate, return shipping is included only in the accepted final quote, and do not ship before acceptance and instructions.
On many platforms, yes - the RCM can be bench-reset so that crash data is cleared and the module is returned to a pre-deployment state. This is platform-specific; some RCMs are one-use and must be replaced after deployment. We confirm at intake.
No. We service the electronic restraint control module (RCM/SDM/SAS) only. Airbag cushion replacement, squib cartridge replacement, and seat belt pretensioner installation are mechanical work that belongs with a qualified body shop or technician.
Yes - this is one of the most common RCM jobs we do. Some vehicles have a "soft" crash event stored in the module from an impact that did not deploy the bags. We retrieve the crash data, assess the event, and clear or reprogram as appropriate.
Yes. We retrieve the DTC, determine if the source is stored crash data, a prior deployment, a missing module, or a circuit fault, and address the root cause via programming or module service. We do not guess or clear codes without understanding the cause.
Mail-in RCM service is available nationwide after review. Mobile on-vehicle service at your DFW location also remains available for select platforms. Do not ship a module before receiving accepted instructions.
Yes - one year, unlimited miles. If the airbag light returns due to our programming work within that period, we resolve it at no charge. This does not cover new hardware faults in the airbag circuits unrelated to the module programming.

Crash Data Clear & Reset
CRASH
We reset or replace the RCM with clean crash data so the airbag system comes fully back online after a collision. Every reset is confirmed by a post-program scan showing zero crash-data DTCs.
Module Cloning
CLONE
Clone the VIN linkage and configuration from a failed or corrupted RCM to a replacement module - preserving the vehicle's restraint configuration without starting from scratch.
Replacement Module Programming
REPLACE
New and remanufactured RCMs require VIN write and variant configuration via OEM diagnostic software before the airbag system becomes operational. We handle the full initialization sequence.
Bench Repair for Damaged Modules
BENCH
Water-damaged or voltage-spiked RCMs with repairable circuit faults can be component-level repaired and reprogrammed - often at a fraction of new-module cost.
Mail-In RCM Service
MAIL
Mail-in RCM service is available nationwide after review. Send the VIN, part number, and symptom summary through the quote form before removing or shipping the module.
Control Modules Only - Clear Scope
SCOPE
We service the electronic control module only. We do not replace airbag cushions, squib cartridges, or seat belt pretensioner hardware - that work stays with your body shop.

Common reasons customers book this service

Tap a card to see what triggers this service and which systems are affected.

After airbag deployment the restraint control module locks and stores crash data permanently. The RCM must be replaced or bench-reset and reprogrammed before any fault codes clear. Control module work only - hardware squibs and pretensioners require a body shop.
A steady airbag warning light usually indicates a fault stored in the RCM. Causes include a previously deployed airbag reset improperly, a seat belt pretensioner circuit fault, or a soft code from low battery during module initialization. We retrieve the DTC and clear or reprogram as appropriate.
Donor RCMs carry the previous vehicle's crash data and VIN. A used RCM with stored crash data cannot simply be installed - it will illuminate the airbag light and disable passive restraints. We clone or re-provision to your VIN with clean crash data.
Hard codes in the RCM - B1200, B1318, B1934, and similar - indicate the module detected an out-of-range condition and latched. Some can be cleared by reflashing; others require a bench repair or replacement module.
Body repair often involves disconnecting SRS circuits - seat belt pretensioners, side curtain modules, seat occupancy sensors. If connectors were disturbed during repair, the RCM may have logged faults that need to be cleared and verified after reassembly.

SRS / Airbag Module Failure Indicators

Symptoms that point to an airbag control module that needs crash-clearing or replacement. We service the module only - never the inflators or deployable hardware.

Airbag Light On After Repair
Cluster airbag lamp will not extinguish even though all sensors and inflators have been replaced. Crash data is still stored in the SRS module EEPROM.
Crash Data Stored
Scan tool reports "crash data present" or "deployment counter > 0" - module needs an EEPROM clear before it will re-arm the system.
No Communication With SRS
U0151 "Lost Communication With SRS" - module is locked, bricked, or improperly programmed for the vehicle.
B-codes That Will Not Clear
B1000-series B-codes that re-set after every clear attempt point to internal SRS module faults that need bench review.
