Transmission Shops
TCM and TCU programming after rebuild or swap, including post flash adapt cycles.
A rebuild is only as good as the first 50 miles after it leaves the shop, and most of that quality lives in the transmission control module. We program TCMs and TCUs after rebuild or swap, run the OEM fast learn procedure, and document the adaptation cycle so the customer drives away with a transmission that shifts like factory or better.
Where the work breaks, and how we fix it
Three failure modes shops in this vertical hit constantly, paired with the way we resolve each one.
- The problem
New or used TCM still has the old vehicle data
A salvage TCM remembers the donor vehicles VIN, gear ratio, and adaptation history. We re flash with the correct calibration for your customers chassis.
Our fixTCM and TCU programming on bench or on vehicle
Mail in bench programming for shops outside DFW. Mobile to your lift inside the metroplex.
- The problem
Post rebuild fast learn is not optional
Skip the OEM adapt cycle and the customer comes back complaining about flare shifts and harsh 1 to 2 engagement. We run the procedure on the lift and verify with road test data.
Our fixOEM fast learn and adaptation cycle on every job
Documented procedure with start and finish parameter readouts on the invoice. Your customer leaves with proof the adapt was done.
- The problem
CVT and dual clutch units have proprietary procedures
Each CVT manufacturer has its own steel belt break in and clutch torque adapt routine. We hold the OEM software for the major platforms and run the procedure right.
Our fixQuick turn on used TCM identification
Send the part number off the donor unit and we tell you in minutes whether it is the right TCM and what calibration it needs.
Quote, dispatch, verified handback
A simple three-step workflow tuned for transmission shops jobs.
- 01Send the unit and rebuild notesSend the VIN, transmission family, TCM or TCU part number, donor details, and what changed in the build. We quote the correct programming path.
- 02Program, ship, or dispatchWe bench-program shipped controllers, dispatch for on-vehicle relearns, and handle CVT or dual-clutch procedures when the vehicle must be present.
- 03Return verified shift controlThe handback includes programming notes, relearn status, fault scan results, and any road-test or next-step notes for your customer file.

Questions before you send the job
Answers to the objections that usually come up before a quote is approved.
Why does post-rebuild relearn matter?
The TCM controls clutch fill, line pressure, shift timing, and adaptive memory. After a rebuild or replacement, relearn work helps prevent harsh shifts, flare, and avoidable comebacks.
Can a used or salvage TCM be reused?
Sometimes. The hardware, calibration family, VIN or security data, and transmission configuration must match the vehicle. We check donor fit before programming starts.
Do CVT and dual-clutch units need special procedures?
Yes. Many require initialization, clutch or belt learn, fluid temperature windows, and road routines. We identify the procedure before quoting mobile or bench work.
How does mail-in TCM work?
Remove the module, include the VIN, part number, symptom, rebuild notes, and contact information, then ship it protected from moisture and impact. Intake confirms the scope before programming.
What documentation does the customer get?
The shop receives programming notes, incoming and outgoing scan status, relearn confirmation when applicable, and any conditions that still need mechanical or electrical follow-up.
Ready to move the next transmission shops job?
