About this service.

Why Alignment and Glass Shops Use Core Auto Logic for Lane Systems

Lane keeping is where mechanical alignment meets camera calibration. We close the loop on both sides so the steering nudges your customer feels are corrections - not symptoms.

How we plan this service

Reviewed service-source signals help us choose the access path, intake details, and calibration workflow before the job starts.

ADAS calibration TIER A RENDERABLE FACT

Static vs dynamic procedure planning

Exact-year release rows confirm that late-model ADAS work can require a mix of target-board setup, subscription-gated static routines, and manufacturer drive cycles.

Module family
Forward camera and radar systems
Access method
Target setup plus road procedure when required
Workflow
Static or dynamic calibration
What to send

Send the VIN, repair operation, alignment status, tire size changes, and whether a windshield, bumper, sensor, or suspension component was replaced.

Diagnostics and secure gateway access TIER A RENDERABLE FACT

Secure gateway and DoIP checks

Some late-model ADAS and diagnostic sessions require secure authorization or Ethernet diagnostics before calibration routines can be completed.

Module family
Late-model networked ADAS
Access method
Secure gateway, DoIP, or OEM authorization may be required
Workflow
Authorization and diagnostic session planning
What to send

Confirm the VIN, module being calibrated, battery support availability, and whether previous scans mention gateway, DoIP, or seed-key access.

Failure Indicators

Symptoms of a lane system running on a stale calibration.

False Departure Warnings
Alerts fire mid-lane on straight, well-marked roads.
Missed Lane Lines
No warning when the vehicle actually crosses a clear line.
Ping-Pong Steering
Lane-keep bounces the car between the lines instead of centering it.
Biased Corrections
Steering assist consistently nudges toward one lane edge after an alignment.

Common reasons customers book this service

Tap a card to see what triggers this service and which systems are affected.

Lane departure runs on the windshield camera's view of the lane lines. Glass R&R or camera replacement changes that view and requires recalibration before the warnings mean anything.
An alignment changes the thrust line and steering zero point the lane system steers against. The steering angle sensor reset and camera calibration belong together, in that order.
Struts, control arms, racks, and ride-height changes all move the camera relative to the road surface. Lane-keep corrections calculated on stale geometry steer the car wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

LDW only warns; lane-keep and lane centering actively steer. Both run on the same camera calibration, but the steering systems also depend on an accurate steering angle sensor zero - so on LKA-equipped vehicles we verify both, because a bad SAS reset shows up as steering nudges, not warnings.
The alignment changes the thrust angle and where straight ahead actually is. The steering angle sensor must be re-zeroed to the new geometry, and on many platforms the camera calibration references that zero. Do the alignment first, then SAS reset, then camera calibration - we handle the sequence.
Usually. Most platforms require or recommend a dynamic phase on well-marked roads at moderate speed so the camera confirms real lane tracking. We run it as part of the visit and note the result on the report.
That pattern - corrections biased to one side, or ping-pong steering between the lines - is exactly what a camera calibrated against stale geometry does. A recalibration with a fresh steering-angle zero is the fix path before parts get thrown at it.
Typically 60-90 minutes on-site including the dynamic drive. Booked together with your alignment, the vehicle leaves with both the mechanical and the camera side of lane keeping verified.
