The Volvo XC40 on the CMA platform was the first model to establish City Safety with Pilot Assist as a Volvo compact SUV standard, integrating windshield-mounted camera and front radar that require VIDA for recalibration after any windshield replacement or front structural repair. Oncoming Lane Mitigation and Run-off Road Mitigation add active steering intervention capabilities beyond standard lane keeping, requiring sensor verification through VIDA after any front-end repair to confirm these systems are properly calibrated. PHEV variants have HV safety protocol requirements, and Volvo Cars app digital key availability from 2020 onwards adds a CEM programming requirement for phone key security module initialization after BCM or CEM replacement.
